The youth is an unstoppable force leading positive social change globally. Making up half of this population, girls are amazing agents of change within their communities and beyond. Observing #DayOfTheGirl in the month of October, Ananke organized a digital event - The Girl Summit on October 29th, 2020 with the theme #RealizingAnInclusiveFuture in which International Women Empowerment Events was a key partner.

The summit focused on topics including #Education #GenderEquality #Sustainability #Innovation & #EmergingTech #ModernEconomy and showcased three main live segments including Fireside Chat, Panel Discussions, and Workshops as well as a recorded Keynote sessions. This was the first-ever Digital Summit with female empowerment at its center across the MENA region and the sub-continent.

Ananke’s Girl Summit featured a stellar array of speakers, panelists and workshop facilitators from all over the world.

“It is such an honor for Ananke to showcase female trailblazers at the Summit. The event was attended by women and girls of all ages where they got to listen, watch and even network with brilliant women in almost every profession and belonging to every sphere of society. They learned the importance, role and impact of women and girls, why it is critical to leave no one behind and most importantly the fundamental need of diversity,” says Ananke’s Executive Editor and Founder, Sabin Muzaffar.

Harnessing the immense potential of #girls by enabling them through capacity building activities, the Girl Summit aimed to create value through female leadership development and inclusive dialogue. Collaborating with Ananke in organizing a memorable Summit, event partners included some of the most prominent names regionally as well as globally, including: IBM, Centre for Business and Society- LUMS, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Connected Women Pakistan, Women Engineers Pakistan, CIRCLE, International Women Empowerment Events, Beautiful Soul Lounge, PWiC Global, Evolution360, Twittistaan, Women In Law - An Initiative by LEARN, Acorn Aspirations, Lahore Education & Research Network - LEARN, The Gender Security Project, CodeGirls by ConsulNet Corporation and TeensInAi.

Talking about the event, Managing Director of International Women Empowerment Hira Ali said: To address the underlying roadblocks impeding a woman’s progression in various walks of life, it’s crucial to start early. Despite the fact that we live in a more progressive and equal global society than ever before, progress for adolescent girls has been lagging behind in several areas, with COVID-19 further widening these gaps and magnifying inequalities. However, it’s time to change the narrative and untie knots of the past that have severely limited the potential of our girls.

International Women Empowerment Event’s core vision is to collaborate to bring awareness to the underlying root causes impacting women’s empowerment throughout Asia and the Middle East – causes that have negatively impacted women from achieving equality in health, education, work and politics thereby negatively impacting the gender gap ranking of the country. The IWEE’s team hosted a panel centering around their latest campaign Her Allies. Panel members include Directors Maheen Noor Soomro and Gull Khan as well as IWEE’s patron & Daughters of Change President- Marie Sola. Managing Director Hira Ali and Director Maheen Noor Soomro also delivered keynote sessions at the event. The sessions received encouraging feedback from the participants and the panel speakers shared many insightful tips from their own personal experience and otherwise.
