Maria Garcia Nielsen Appointed to the Board of MiBanco
LIMA, PERU 30 de marzo de 2022. Mibanco, the microfinance line of business of Credicorp (NYSE:BAP) today announced the appointment of Maria del Carmen Garcia to its board of directors. Ms.Garcia, an accomplished executive leveraging technology, has led multiple digital transformations in retail and distribution.
Maria most recent executive role was CEO of Office Depot (Nasdaq: ODP) in Spain and Portugal where she repositioned the retailer towards a direct online channel. For 13 years she executed Mergers and Acquisitions of information technology companies as a founding member of a €150M Banco Santander-funded firm investing in ecommerce companies. She pivoted into digital, after working as a strategy consultant for McKinsey in the retail sector. She was founder and CEO of Libroweb, a first-of-kind online bookstore that anchored the Spanish book market and was acquired after three years by Amazon.
Ms. Garcia Nielsen holds an engineering degree from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
