“Future Proofed” Forum A Sold-Out Success: Deep Insights Into The Future of The Workplace, Hyper Relevant Panels, Great Networking Opportunities

Ellevate Dubai brought together over 300 boss ladies and male allies to discover the future of the workplace, adapt to new technologies and digital disruption, and develop emotional resilience in the face of overwhelm and uncertainty.

DUBAI — Last month, the Dubai Chapter of Ellevate Network – a global network for professional women – hosted their annual flagship forum at the Address Dubai Marina.

The Forum kicked off with keynote speeches by corporate veteran and president of Ellevate Dubai, Rana Nawas, and business magnate and Chairman of The Kanoo Group & KAAF Investment LLC, Mishal Kanoo, highlighting the optimism and challenges as we embark on the journey of future-proofing ourselves.

This was followed by a heated and engaging panel “Technology and The Future of The Workplace” hosted by CNN Anchor Hala Gorani with panelists including powerhouses such as Michelle Wu (CIO, GE Power), Amira Rashad (Founder, BulkWhiz), Brigette Hyacinth (Renowned Author, Leadership Expert), and Tariq Qureishy (Futurist, Founder of MAD Talks) arguing what jobs are being replaced by technology and AI right now and what skills we have to develop moving forward.

The second panel focused on what a year-long survey conducted by Ellevate Dubai identified as the number one challenge facing professional women today – overwhelm and burnout. The panel “Navigating The Overwhelm” tackled this topic head-on with panelists Sophie Le Ray (CEO, Naseba), Claire Marshall (Global Head of Fund Governance, Aberdeen Standard Investments), Professor Justin Kennedy (Neuroscientist) and Samer Habbal (Head of Emerging Business & Content MENA, Thomson Reuters) giving practical tips and strategies to develop emotional resilience. From Sophie Le Ray’s advice of taking the time to journal and get all our thoughts on paper, to Claire Marshall’s advice of shifting the mindset from survival to success, the audience got numerous valuable insights and tips.

The remainder of the program included a meditation led by Sumit Manav (Founder, Lifestyle Yoga), action-oriented breakout sessions from the Forum’s community partners – including Hopscotch, WAIN, Mompreneurs, Dubai Business Women Council, Naseba, Reach – and a standing ovation for Afra Atiq, Emirati spoken word poet.

One of the key strengths of Ellevate events is the connection and networking opportunities it provides. Building your tribe is a key component to future-proofing yourself, according to Rana Nawas, President of Ellevate Dubai. “Now more than ever, you need to surround yourself with the right group of men and women”.

The uncertainties and disruptions in today’s market have made it clear that the only way forward for professionals and companies is to adapt and evolve. The “Future-Proofed” Forum presented a picture of what’s ahead and what to do about it, and it hit the right note with those in attendance with feedback such as “The best event I’ve ever attended.” to I connected with so many incredible women.

The “Future-Proofed” Forum was made possible thanks to the support of sponsors who understood and shared the vision: Thomson Reuters, Wamda, Novus Aviation Capital, and Aberdeen Standard Investments. The media partners of the Forum included CNN, Entrepreneur Middle East, The Tempest, and Ella Magazine.

To continue the momentum and keep developing your tribe, professional women can become Ellevate members at
