Janet Hanson to be Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at Ellevate’s Mobilize Women Awards and Cocktail Reception

Ellevate Network, the largest community of women+ at work, is excited to announce that Janet Hanson will be an honoree at the Mobilize Women Cocktail Reception on June 6th at Prince George Ballroom in New York City.

Following her successful career at Goldman Sachs, in 1997 Janet founded 85 Broads (the name being a humorous riff on Goldman’s former headquarter address), the first professional women’s network of its kind. The mission of 85 Broads was to connect women currently working at Goldman Sachs with the firm’s female “alumnae” to create a powerful crossruff of experience and intellect. Over the next decade and a half, 85 Broads expanded its membership to include over 30,000 trailblazing women who attended many of the leading colleges, universities, and graduate schools worldwide.

In 2013, Janet stepped down as CEO of the network and in 2014, 85 Broads was rebranded as Ellevate. Ellevate’s new mission was to create a coalition of ambitious and supportive women who wanted to mobilize their collective power to effect positive and lasting change throughout the culture of business.

Through in-person and virtual programming, Ellevate creates safe spaces where women+ can be honest about work and get validation, perspective, and actionable advice. One of Ellevate’s signature programs, the annual Mobilize Women Summit, will be held online on June 7th. In advance of the Summit, Ellevate will be hosting an Awards Cocktail Reception on June 6th at The Prince George Ballroom in New York City.

The awards, including the International Woman of Change Award which has been bestowed in the past to actress and activist Debra Messing and production designer Hannah Beachler, will honor women+ who have used their social, professional, political, or economic capital to create a more equitable playing field for women and minorities.

"I am honored and delighted to accept the Ellevate Lifetime Achievement Award," said Hanson. "I have been a passionate champion of women trailblazers all my life - these are extraordinary women who have had the courage to stand up for what they believe in, no matter how daunting the task or undertaking. I am continuously inspired by the accomplishments, energy, vision, and leadership of the members of this amazing network!"

"We're thrilled to honor Janet Hanson with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Mobilize Women," said Maricella Hererra, CEO of Ellevate Network. "As the founder of 85 Broads, she has been a driving force of the network since its inception. Her work and passion have been fundamental to the growth of our community and mission."
