Elisa Verna is a full-stack software engineer who supports our technology team in building new features and improving existing ones. She built her first website using a bad HTML editor when she was 13 and took her sweet time turning her curiosity about technology into a career. Before joining Ellevate, Elisa led the online editorial team for a magazine that reviews romance novels (yes, such a thing exists), followed by a brief stint as the community manager for an e-commerce beauty startup. She's proud to continue her professional trend of working for female-driven companies as part of the Ellevate team.
Elisa was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. and left as soon as humanly possible to pursue a B.A. in Communication at the University of Pittsburgh. She moved to New York in 2009 to get her M.A. at NYU and most recently completed Dev Bootcamp (RIP), a short-term, immersive coding program. She is excited by not knowing how things work and definitely asked too many questions as a child.
In her free time Elisa trains in powerlifting, loves on three very spoiled cats and shamelessly enjoys trashy reality TV.
Elisa's Female Role Model(s):
My younger sister and all of the strong ladies I train with.
Elisa's Favorite Ellevate Memory:
Definitely the first Ellevate summit. It was a lot of work and the longest day, but I got to know my colleagues better and all of the speakers were inspiring. Seeing everyone I work with in action was incredibly motivating.
