The dictionary definition of luck is: the things that happen to a person because of chance. When it comes to career success, that definition is insufficient. The real definition is: Timing + Preparation. This Jam Session focuses on the second half of that equation. It will help you be prepared and ready to seize the moment when opportunity knocks. Barbara Roche will focus on the role of confidence in bringing out your inner badass: clear, goal-oriented, focused, assertive, and very attractive. That’s right, your confidence and conviction can attract the right people. Here are some questions she’ll address:
- Do you find time for your professional development or do you make time?
- Do you suffer from distorted thinking?
- Do you stand out from the crowd or do you hold yourself back?
- Do you know your signature strength? Does it show?
- What will it take to be ready for the next opportunity?
Barbara Roche is a coach, professor, speaker and workshop leader. She also teaches leadership communication at the Wharton School of Business. Prior to starting her own coaching practice, Barbara ran a consulting firm in western Massachusetts, and was the Director of Learning and Training at Jobs for the Future in Boston. Barbara is the author of Commit to Confidence: 30 Strategies to Help Women Stand Up and Step Out. The book is a compilation of all the lessons she has learned coaching powerful, successful women who at some point along the way, suffered a crisis of confidence.
